Biography

I'm a 26 year old painter originally from coastal Maine, currently living in Santa Cruz, California. I've been creating art since I could pick up a pencil. Since then I've been constantly searching for new ways to express my perceptions and experiences.

I started to hone my painting skill at Mt.Desert Island High School with the help of my mentors Charlie Johnson and Dan Stillman. There I was able to explore art to my heart's content and paint, sculpt, build, dream, and pursue any project I had in mind. I took 16 art classes there and quickly decided I wanted to do this for the rest of my life. I went on to study for a few years at Massachusetts College of Art & Design in Boston, and eventually left to pursue a career on my own as the burden of more college loans seemed contradictory to my advancement. Since then, starting around 2013 I began selling my art work part-time, both from my own personal portfolio and commission work to now where (since approximately 2015) it has evolved to the point of becoming my full-time job.

My style is a combination of surrealism, expressionism, abstraction and psychedelia, with major influences from Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh, and Pablo Picasso. I feel it is heavily built upon the foundations they created. With double-imagery, subconscious manifestations, psychedelic abstractions, eye-popping complimentary colors, landscapes influenced by the natural wonders in Maine (and now California) and from the cityscapes observed while living in Boston I feel I've created a style of my own that can only be further shaped with each new piece. Most of my artwork prior to 2019 was acrylic paint on canvas with some some ceramic, metal and wood sculpture peppered in. Beginning in late 2018 I expanded to digital art, and now most recently into oil painting. They’ve now become my two priorities and favorite mediums. I've had exclusive events and single-artist shows in Maine and California, gallery exhibitions in Maine, Massachusetts, and California, had showings at numerous shops and cafes, music festivals, completed countless commission work and sold many originals and prints online and across America.

I had a successful Kickstarter Project (Found HERE) that I finished funding for in 2015, called 'Landscape Painting Across the US'. The 6 part painting series was completed in 2016.

My art is a direct reflection of the environment I live in. My goal is to design artwork that can please multiple interpretations of itself.

I do custom commission work, merchandise design, and murals! Contact me for more information.
